GURUGRAM:The Gurugram police have arrested four vehicle lifters and claimed to have solved around a dozen cases of vehicle theft which the culprits had committed at multiple locations in Gurugram.

A total of 8 motorcycles, 2 scooters and an auto-rickshaw have been recovered from their possession, the police said during a press meet on Monday.

The arrested accused have been identified as Rakesh alias Tatal, Jatin alias Teda, Aamir and Hakamuddin. All of them are residents of Gurugram.

"Rakesh was the kingpin of the gang and has already been arrested in seven cases of vehicle theft which were registered against him at several police stations. Two accused were arrested from Iffco Chowk and two from Subhash Chowk in Gurugram, by the Gurugram police following a secret inputs," said, ACP (crime), Preet Pal Sangwan.

In connection with the crime, a complaint of vehicle theft was filed by the complainant Soni - a resident of Jind district - at Sector-40 police station on October 5.

During police questioning, the kingpin Rakesh confessed to vehicle theft incidents that he committed at Shivaji Nagar, Sector-14, Sector-5, Sector-9, Sector-29 and New Colony area of Gurugram he along with accomplices.

"Rakesh was a habitual offender. On his direction, other gang members had executed the crime in the city. The accused will be taken on police remand for further questioning. Further investigation is on," said Sangwan.
