More than 45946 cases disposed of in the National Lok Adalat

CHANDIGARH: Under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority and able guidance of the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Vikram Nath, Executive Chairman, National Legal Servcies Authority, Judge Supreme Court of India, New Delhi, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Sheel Nagu, the Chief Justice-cum-Patron-in-Chief, State Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh and . H.S.Grewal, Learned District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh, the National Lok Adalat was organized on Friday in District Court Complex, Sector-43, Chandigarh by State Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh and District Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh.

Thirteen (13) benches headed by the serving Judicial Officers were constituted in the District Courts, Sector-43, Chandigarh. Criminal Compoundable cases, cases under Section 138 of N.I.Act, Bank Recovery cases, MACT Cases, Matrimonial Disputes, Labour Disputes, Arbitration matters, other Civil Cases, Municipal Matters and Traffic Challans were taken up and disposed off with the consent of the parties. In today's National Lok Adalat more than 45946 cases were disposed of by the benches of serving Judicial Officers constituted in New District Courts Complex, Sector 43, Chandigarh which include pending, pre-litigative cases and traffic challans. In abovesaid cases, total amount of Rs. 27,22,25,076/- is settled.

In addition to above, 89 pre-litigative cases involving amount of Rs.1,90,000/- were disposed of by the Permanent Lok Adalat (PUS), 7 Labour Dispute Cases involving amount of Rs.1,00,000/- were disposed of by the Labour Court, 53 were disposed of by State & District Consumer Commissions, Chandigarh involving amount of Rs.1,44,93,446/-, 192 cases were disposed of by DRT-II, Chandigarh involving amount of Rs. 57,83,44,707/- and total 183 mutations have been disposed of by Tehsildar (Revenue), U.T., Chandigarh.
