GURDASPUR: In a day light dacoity in Gurdaspur, the armed robbers looted ornaments and cash over Rs.3 crore from the house if a local goldsmith. The family of goldsmith was forced to open the almirahs and lockers at gun point.

GURDASPUR: In a day light dacoity in Gurdaspur, the armed robbers looted ornaments and cash over Rs.3 crore from the house if a local goldsmith. The family of goldsmith was forced to open the almirahs and lockers at gun point.


The unidentified robbers entered the house at about 8.30 AM and took the family hostage. The door of the house was open because the driver of the victim had came to get key/s of car. Soon after the dacoits entered the house. The wife and children of the goldsmith were beaten mercilessly before looting the valuables, the family members said. Police has registered a case and investigating the case.


Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa senior Congress leader and MP from Gurdaspur said that police had surrendered before the criminals and people of the Punjab are not safe even in their homes. He said it was alarming situation in Punjab, he added.
